At Dance Directions, our goal is to continue building a vibrant, supportive, and thriving dance community. Our focus areas include enrollment, retention, communication, safety, administration, marketing, and program growth. Every faculty member plays an important role in helping us achieve these goals.
Last year, we had 109 enrolled spots in our yearly program. This year, our goal is to grow to at least 140 enrolled spots. While teachers are not responsible for sales or filling classes, your role in creating an engaging and positive experience is essential to attracting and retaining students.
Create an engaging, positive class environment where students feel excited to return.
Celebrate student progress and build confidence through encouragement and feedback.
Build strong relationships so students feel valued and connected.
Encourage word-of-mouth referrals and promote trial opportunities such as Bring a Friend Week.
Share studio events, workshops, performances, and special activities.
Introduce students to other dance styles and programs when appropriate.
Be an ambassador for Dance Directions by speaking positively about the studio.
Support studio marketing by engaging with social media posts and sharing studio updates.
Encourage participation in open houses, community events, and workshops.
Provide feedback to the studio team about trial students.
Direct families to the office for registration, pricing, or program questions to ensure they receive accurate information.
Teachers contribute to studio growth by creating an environment where students feel inspired, supported, and excited to be part of the Dance Directions community.
Keeping students engaged and connected is one of the most important parts of building a successful studio. Our goal is for every student to feel valued, supported, and excited to attend class each week.
Teachers support retention by:

Providing meaningful feedback and celebrating achievements.
A student who feels seen, supported, and successful is more likely to continue dancing with us year after year.

Teachers are expected to:
Check and respond to communication from studio leadership in a timely manner.
Direct all parent questions regarding registration, payments, scheduling, or policies to the studio office.

This ensures families receive consistent and accurate information.
The physical, emotional, and mental safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Teachers are responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment by:
Following safe dance practices and injury prevention guidelines.
Ensuring students feel respected, supported, and encouraged.
Being aware of students’ physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Following all Child Protection policies and procedures.
Together, we create a space where every dancer feels safe, confident, and empowered.
Strong administrative systems help the studio operate efficiently. We continue to improve and automate processes wherever possible to better support our faculty and students.
Teachers may be asked for feedback on scheduling, communication systems, and class management tools to help us continue improving studio operations.
Our online presence and community reputation play an important role in growing Dance Directions. Once new students join us for a trial class, teachers help create an experience that encourages them to become lifelong dancers.

Your contract with Dance Directions outlines the entitlements, responsibilities, and expectations that help create a positive, professional, and supportive working environment. This section is provided as a quick reference guide; however, please refer to your individual contract for complete details and any additional information.
Your hourly rate is outlined in your contract and is paid monthly via e-transfer. Please submit your invoice to [email protected] on the last day of each month. Payment will be made by the Studio within twenty-one (21) days following the last day of the month in which the invoice is received. Submission of an invoice prior to the last day of the month does not entitle the Contractor to earlier payment.
Payment will not be provided for classes canceled due to illness, weather, or public holidays.
You are expected to arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled class, fully prepared with class plans, music, and any necessary equipment.
Your hourly teaching rate includes all class-related preparation outside of scheduled teaching hours, such as choreography, music selection and editing, costume choices, and lesson planning.
Immediate family members receive a 25% discount on all Dance Directions classes. As a teacher, you are eligible for a 50% discount on all classes. Please contact the studio for details on how to apply these discounts.
All staff members are required to attend dress rehearsal and at least one recital per season as a volunteer.
If you are involved in performances, films, or shows, Dance Directions is happy to help promote your event—provided it does not present a conflict of interest with the studio.
It is expected that all equipment and studio spaces used during your sessions are returned to their original state at the end of your classes.
